Fat Bike Frames

Aluminium and carbon are the two major types of frame materials used for fat bikes.

Brands use these materials for their offset and symmetrical fat bike frames because they are lighter and more performance oriented. The most economical solutions are the aluminium frames, which can also slightly decrease the weight of a fat bike. Although it is the most expensive, carbon is the lightest material and has the best stiffness to weight ratio on top of its comfort.

Fat Bike Wheels & Tires

Fat bikes wheels range from 26 to 27.5 inch, which makes the fat bikes easier to control as opposed to the iconic 29-inch wheel size on mountain bikes. While models built around 26-inch wheels can often accommodate tyres up to 5.5 inches in width, most fat bikes with 27.5-inch wheels can only handle tires up to a maximum of 4 or 4.5 inches in width.

Wider tires will function better on conditions like new snow or soft sand since they have a larger contact patch. Like snowshoes after a blizzard, the bike will "float" on the surface if the weight is equally distributed over a wider surface area.

Garneau Fat Bikes

The Garneau fat bikes are made for Canadian winters. Their Gros-Louis 2 and Gros-Louis 3 popular fat bike models have 26-inch wheels and 5-inch-wide tyres, offering them the best levels of traction and flotation for the worst winter conditions.

Moose Fat Bikes

One of the most popular brands for fat bikes in Canada. Moose fat bikes are designed in Canada and offers a variety of models like the fat bike 1,2 and 3.

Rocky Mountain Fat Bikes

The Blizzard fat bikes model line from Rocky Mountain has massive tyre space and incredible clearance, so snow is no problem for it. The Rocky Mountain fat bikes come in a variety of models made of carbon and alloy.

Cannondale Fat Bikes

Cannondale fat bikes are light and has quick handling, with slack and stable geometry. The only model offered by Cannondale is the Fat CAAD.
